Kanei Coffee 金井珈琲 : A Hidden Gem Cafe Near Sun Moon Lake in Nantou

Kanei Coffee is one of my favorite cafes in Nantou, Taiwan. Located in Yuchi Township, it’s the perfect hidden gem cafe to spend a chill day with friends while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. Just 20 minutes from Sun Moon Lake, it’s an ideal spot for visitors exploring the area. 

I discovered it during a recent Google Maps search and was intrigued by its unique style and proximity to Puli Nantou. Driving from Puli, it took just 15 minutes to reach the cafe. Upon arrival, I realized I had been here before with my family for the seafood restaurant on-site. Now, they have both a seafood restaurant and a cafe in the same location. If you enjoy a relaxed coffee afternoon, you can follow it up with dinner at the restaurant.

A Japanese-Style Cafe with a Nature Vibe

Kanei Coffee's Japanese-style design, surrounded by towering trees and stunning mountain views, left a lasting first impression. It felt like stepping out of the city and into a tranquil forest. A special koi pond adds to the serene atmosphere, offering a unique spot to sit, sip coffee, and soak in the scenery. Inside, the cafe plays music on vinyl records, enhancing the vintage vibe.

The cafe offers a variety of drinks, including coffee, specialty hand-brewed coffee, tea, and decaffeinated tea. For food, they serve wood-fired pizza, desserts, and cakes. I ordered a latte, which was smooth and creamy. The black tea cheesecake was unique and absolutely delicious.

Kanei Coffee is suitable for friends, families, and couples. It’s a perfect spot for a coffee date, and as a pet-friendly cafe, you can bring along your furry friends for a delightful outing.
